Charity Shop
On 4th October 2008 we opened our first Charity Shop in Boston town centre. We were are still are the only animal charity shop in the town.
We believe we are the first Great Dane Rescue or possibly first Giant Breed Rescue organisation to have our own bricks and mortar shop, and so we were stepping into unknown territory a little.
On the back of this, we have launched our charity on Ebay auctioning some of the special donations that we have received. Please save us as one on your favourite sellers and check back regularly to see what is on offer.
This exciting project came at a time when we have just re-homed our 1000th Dane. Dane number 1000 was Ellie, a blue bitch aged 9 years who came to us from the RSPCA Isle of Wight. We were informed that she was highly dog aggressive but after a few months of socialising her with male dogs at our sanctuary Ellie enjoyed walks and playing with all breeds of dogs on a daily basis.
Ellie officially opened the shop for us on the big day. Although we are sad that there is an ever increasing number of Danes in need of rescue, we are proud that we have been able to help so many of our canine giants, and will continue to do so for many years to come.
Our charity shop was so successful that in 2011 we moved to larger premises in a better location where there is greater foot fall ( see pictures below ). We have had a lot of support from our members, with lots of donations of good quality items to sell and w are glad to report that takings have practically doubled following our relocation. Thanks to all the volunteers and donators.
The shop is open 6 days a week and is always very busy and popular.
